Introducing Create: Schools

Updated: Aug 19, 2022

Create: Schools is an exciting new initiative from Premier Advisory Group (PAG). In March 2022, PAG was delighted to be announced as the sole provider for Department for Education’s (DfE) free school support contract, taking up the mantle from New Schools Network.

Create: Schools is the delivery arm for PAG’s free, independent and expert advice for free school applicants. With combined experience of supporting over 100 free school applications across national waves and local authority competitions, the Create: Schools team works to help schools, trusts and other organisations to set up the next generation of mainstream, special and alternative provision free schools.

Our team has a varied background within the education sector, including teaching, free school application drafting, pre-opening project management, delivering support programmes for headteachers and volunteering with young people, making us perfectly placed to support proposers through the rigorous (and often mysterious) free school application process.

Since taking on the contract in April 2022, the team has been busy preparing for the Create: Schools official launch in June. We have been working on a suite of tools and resources for all types of applicant groups; this will include ready-made data sets and maps to help applicants make the best possible case for their new school, as well a compilation of best practice and lessons learnt from previous free school waves. Once the DfE officially launches the next waves, we will be ready to provide groups with bespoke, tailored 1:1 support to make their applications the best they can be.

We are also excited to be working with our expert partners as part of this service and will be making use of their sector-leading expertise to deliver workshops and masterclasses. AMR Consult, Kinetic Marketing, MLG Education and Stone King have all been long term partners of PAG, and we are looking forward to bringing their experience and knowledge of school estates, marketing and the legal sector into our work with applicants.

In the meantime, we have been speaking to a number of individuals, schools, trusts and local authorities, exploring how free schools can benefit their organisations and communities. If you are interested in setting up a free school, just get in touch with us using the links below – we are always happy to have an informal and exploratory discussion.
